HELLO KJ ILYSM ! so tommy dealing with emotions is … well , mostly he doesn’t . sadness lashes out like anger sometimes . he’ll be distant , short , & he’ll always want someone to blame . other times , a good example of this is how he dealt with cassie’s death , he’ll simply seem more serious but give no other implication that he’s hurt . & once the initial feeling is gone he’ll want to move on immediately because he never allows feelings to linger . he pushes back any hurt & he never lets himself grieve over stuff .
happiness is easier . he’ll zip around & he laughs loud & you can’t wipe the grin of his face . genuine happiness is something he doesn’t hide . he rides it out like a high .
he does have stuff that gives him anxiety ! being forced to sit still for long periods of time , for example , makes him antsy . he hates being stuck places . he’s quite claustrophobic , small spaces freak him out . his worst fear / what will really up his anxiety , though , is being imprisoned . he spent months , which mind you feels longer to him as his perception of time is majorly fucked , in prison under a power dampener . prison was his absolute nightmare . he’d spend hours in his cell with his hands on the wall trying to focus every fiber of his being to summon his power & break free . tommy will go ballistic if he’s imprisoned . it can possibly even trigger anxiety or panic attacks from him . & once he’s out he’s going to have no mercy on who locked him up unless someone stops him .
AS FOR HIS POWER ! i won’t touch on this too much to save you from me getting carried away but i’ll talk to you how he sees the world or , at least , explain how fucked his perception of time is . tommy does have the physicality of a speedster . his mind works at insane speeds , giving him an accelerated reaction rate , & his body is built for top speeds . since he’s made for speed this causes the rest of the world to seem slow to him , & that’s just at his default pace . the faster he goes , the more his mind adapts to the speed & the slower the world seems . he can do a week’s worth of work in five minutes which seems insanely fast to the regular eye but to tommy , who’s mind is going just as fast as his body , it just feels like he just spent a week doing non stop work . it’s fast only to someone who doesn’t move that fast , just as we’d seem extremely fast to a snail .
tommy usually spends his days working , if he’s on that week , then the rest of the time he just keeps himself active . runs around new york to anywhere he wants ! or not even just new york . sometimes he’ll run across the country or world & just find places . places where hardly anyone or even no one else gets to go . he loves seeings sights that only he gets to see . he also will scope out apartment buildings & find empty apartments to squat in sometimes if he wants a roof over his head that night but isn’t quite feeling finding a shelter . when having off weeks from work he’ll also break out his suit & roam the country doing vigilante type work . he hasn’t given up being a superhero .
